Gallery Statement Of Purpose

The Maynard Leigh Gallery exists to promote and stimulate artists of all kinds, both professional and amateur. One of our core values as a company is vitality: “We aim to bring vitality and spirit to all our encounters with each other and our clients.”

We therefore see the Gallery as an interesting and complimentary adjunct to our commercial activities.

Our aim within Maynard Leigh and with clients is to establish valuable collaborative relationships and this also reflects the ethos underpinning the Gallery. So, while many of the works on show are for sale, the Gallery takes only a nominal commission, in contrast to the 50% fee charged elsewhere.

We envisage the Gallery as a place where artists can show work of vitality since supporting the development of an artist’s creative process is as important, and in some ways more important, than securing the funding or arranging the publicity for a new piece of work.

It is a place where our own company colleagues can explore another side of their creative flair by temporarily acquiring responsibility for the Gallery’s artistic management. It is also plays an important role in stimulating a less corporate environment for our visitors, particularly those on our public and in-house learning events based at our venue.

We welcome suggestions for future shows and invite you to view the work in the same spirit as it is offered.
